More than four years ago, I read Taking Chance Home on the military blog, BlackFive. The military has a tradition of providing an escort for each casualty on the long trip back to their next of kin. This account of one such trip demonstrates the honor and dignity displayed not only by the men and women entrusted with this duty, but everyone involved in the trip home.
Today I’ve learned that HBO has made a movie based on LtCol Michael Strobl’s account of his journey with CPL Chance Phelps who died in 2004 on Good Friday in Iraq. The movie will be aired on February 21st. Here is the trailer for the film.
